Artificial intelligence has dramatically lowered the barrier to entry for cybercrime, forcing organizations to rethink how they prepare for, respond to and recover from attacks. Attacks that once required months of skilled effort by experienced hackers can now be executed in a matter of minutes, thanks to the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. And in at least one recent incident, an autonomous AI-driven attack occurred with virtually no human involvement. This reality is changing how underwriters, risk managers and executives approach cyber risk. Preventative controls remain essential, but they are no longer sufficient on their own.
