GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen is reportedly considering ditching the $56 billion takeover of eBay, with other suggestions in play for it. Back in early May, GameStop formally offered to acquire eBay, with CEO Ryan Cohen laying out his plan for the moveafter a few days of rumors and speculation about a possible bidfor the platform. GameStop offered to pay $125 per share,using a mix of cash and stock, and would use eBay to expand its core business of gaming retail. eBay stated that it had “received an unsolicited, non-binding acquisition proposal from GameStop. ”Despite saying they’d had no discussions with the retail brand, the online shopping platform said they would “carefully review” the offer.
