Walmart’s North Huntingdon store remain closed Monday morning as work crews continued to assess and clear damage caused by a smoldering fire that broke out in the aftermath of the severe storms that impacted the region late last week. Chuck Wolf, an official with the Strawpump Volunteer Fire Department in North Huntingdon, said Monday fire crews arrived at the Walmart at 8:47 p. 4 and found smoke filling the store and a small fire emanating from a generator that operated near the pharmacy. People at the store did a good job and kept it under control until we got there,” Wolf said. Walmart officials said work continued Monday to ready to the store for a reopening.
