On Monday, Threads user Megan Montgomery posted a screenshot of the “About You” section of her Amazon account, writing “I stumbled upon a page of assumptions that Amazon has made about me based on my purchases and I’m literally speechless”. The rundown features mostly unremarkable statements like “Owns a Kindle Paperwhite”, “Shops from women’s departments”, and “Hosts themed celebrations. From the homepage, you can hover over your name, select “Your Shopping preferences” and then click on “About You”. Following Montgomery’s viral post, others started joining in with screenshots of their own pages, which range from terrifyingly accurate to hilariously random to downright rude.
