Fast fashion giant Shein has lost a lawsuit against rival Temu for alleged copyright infringement in relation to photos of some of its products. Sheinlost its case on 13 August againstTemuover alleged copyright infringement, as judge Kelyn Bacon rejected Shein’s argument as part of a wider, global legal battle between the two businesses. Held in London’s High Court at the start of May,Shein accused Temuof breaching its copyright “on an industrial scale”. Singapore-headquartered Shein alleged that US-headquartered Temu used images of its products to advertise copies of its own-brand clothing to “piggy-back” on a more established competitor. The case also found Temu to have been able to rely on hosting defence with the disputed images as its servers lie outside the UK.
