As part of an ongoing effort to modernize its supply chain, Walmart recently opened its fifth high-tech fulfillment center. , will employ around 1,000 and help provide faster delivery in California and the west coast. Walmart also operates four other modern fulfillment centers it has opened since 2022. The retailer said the Stockton facility will use intelligent automation technology developed by Knapp to reduce the fulfillment process from 12 steps to five. The steps include unloading cases shipped from suppliers from trailers and placing them on a conveyor belt where they are routed to receiving.
